Rua Chã is our calm corner of central Porto — a cosy café on a quiet street just a few minutes' walk from Porto Cathedral (the Sé) and São Bento railway station, yet away from the busiest tourist flow. It is the branch locals pick for a slow breakfast, a laptop morning or an unhurried brunch: scrambled eggs, avocado toast, fresh vegetarian options, house-made pastries and the same specialty coffee programme you'll find at all four of our cafés, from flat whites to hand-brewed filter. The interior is warm and quiet enough for conversation or work, and unlike our stairway café at Escadas do Codeçal, Rua Chã is fully wheelchair accessible with level entry. There is outdoor seating for sunny mornings, card payments are accepted, and everything on the menu is available to take away. If you are exploring the cathedral district or arriving into São Bento and want a genuinely good coffee within a few minutes' walk, this is the closest My Coffee Porto to both.
The best time to visit
This is our quietest café, and the best of the four for working. Weekday mornings after the first breakfast wave are the calmest stretch — quiet enough for a call or a laptop session. The lunchtime hour is the busiest, and Saturday mornings fill up with people heading to or from the cathedral. We close at 17:00, so it is a morning-and-afternoon café rather than an evening one.

From São Bento station
Leave by the main entrance, head uphill towards the cathedral and turn onto Rua Chã — about 4 minutes on foot.
From Porto Cathedral (Sé)
From the cathedral terrace, walk down towards Rua Chã, which runs just below the cathedral hill. Around 3 minutes, all downhill.
From Avenida dos Aliados
Head south-east past São Bento and continue towards the cathedral district — roughly 6 minutes.
Accessibility
Rua Chã has level access from the street with no step at the door, and is fully wheelchair accessible. It is the branch we recommend to anyone who finds our Escadas do Codeçal stairway café difficult to reach. There is space to move between tables, and the interior is quiet enough for conversation.
